Swedish

Swedish massage is the base of all Western massage modalities. It combines five basic strokes, effleurage, petrissage, vibration, friction, and tapotment, to effect change and growth into a body.

When combined with other styles of massage and other treatments, it serves to warm up the workable tissues and then to flush out released toxins.

Craniosacral

Craniosacral work utilizes a very light touch to make slight changes in the meninges, the coverings of the brain and spinal cord. These slight changes will free up the flow and movement of cerebrospinal fluid, which brings nutrients to the brain and spinal cord while taking toxins and wastes away.

Adhesions in the meninges will affect the entire body. Freeing these adhesions will leave you feeling physically rejuvinated in addition to more emotionally stable.

In addition, craniosacral work will free adhesions in most any joint, muscle, tendon, or ligament. It's truly an exploration of intent and touch. It's also great for first time clients who are anxious about being undressed, as it can be performed completely clothed.

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal massage focuses on your needs as a developing mother.

The ecosystem your body supports to nourish your developing baby takes a very large toll on your body, both in the muscular system and the cardiovascular system.

What prenatal massage will do is take the pressure off your low back, off your shoulders, off your legs, off your neck and let you relax and rejuvinate. It is also known to help prevent varicosities, and the oil or lotion I use will help minimize stretch marks.

You can expect your baby to also relax and change its mood, as developing babies tend to be the biggest fans of prenatal massage.

I will not work on you during your first trimester. My most sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may create.

Trigger Point Therapy: Ischemic Compression

This is the most common form of trigger point therapy. It focuses an acute pressure on one or more trigger points to flush out the toxins which have accumulated inside it. upon release of that pressure, fresh blood rushes into the area, removing all the wastes that have built up over the life of that point.

This form of therapy can cause discomfort and leave you sore for a day or two, however it can be extraordinarily effective in releiving chronic patterns of tension and stress.

Trigger Point Therapy: Positional Release

I like to call this "massage ninjitsu." Why? Because it's sneaky, like a ninja giving a massage!

Using positional release, I can unwind and undo patterns of tension and stress, similar to ischemic compression. Positional release, however, is much more comfortable. Often, you won't even be aware of me accessing the very point I'm working on.

Basically, once I start working the trigger point, I will shorten the muscle it lies it to take all the pressure off it. This will remove sensation of pressure, pain, and even temperature for that muscle.

Despite your lack of sensation, I'll still be hard at work, don't you worry!

Myofascial Release

Ever peeled a banana or an orange? You know that crunchy sound as the peel breaks? That thin white skin IMG6467WEBcovering an orange or the thin strands on a banana?

That's fascia. It wraps almost every structure in your body. In fact, if you get fascia structured a certain way, then add specialized cells that function as a single unit, you have an organ.

Myofascia is the fascia covering your muscles. It wraps individual muscle cells, then bundles of those cells, then bundles of the bundles, and then the entire muscle. Once the muscle cells end, you have the tendon. Once you add calcium and other mineral salts, you have bone. This is how important fascia is.

The ideal state of fascia is to glide freely around surrounding structures. This is often not the case, though. It commonly sticks to muscle cells, tendons, other bits of fascia, skin, and anything else it can contact.

Myofascial release breaks the adhesions and opens the tension held in the fascia relating to your muscles. This will free your body up for the most fluid, natural movement you've felt in a long while! In addition to the amazing effects of myofascial release, you may experience a slight bit of discomfort and some soreness the next day or two.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is built for the athlete, obviously. It focuses on bolstering their performance in a given sport or activity.

I will use any number of techniques listed here, both before and after this very entry, in a high energy pace to increase bloodflow and release muscles so that you may perform and train at your very peak.

This is such a customized treatment that I really cannot describe what I will do without consulting you first.

Stretching

I incorporate stretching and movement into each and every massage I perform. I am able and happy to show you how to perform stretches of different kinds on yourself to help you stay relaxed and open between sessions.

If there's a muscle, I'll show you how to stretch it!

Chair massage

Sometimes you, your coworkers, or your employees have a little trouble with the whole carpe part of your diem. What chair massage can do is revitalize the energy in your office or business. Really, it can. Studies have shown that massage will bolster morale and decrease the amount of sick days taken in a company.

It's also the perfect way to show appreciation to your employees or to bring their spirits up at any time!
